About MGM Auto

Once James left school, he completed his pre trade qualification and got an apprenticeship at MGM Auto. After nine years the oppurtunity arose to buy MGM Auto which lead to James and his wife Bridgette buying the business in April 2014, this ultimately was the next logical step in building a future and was easy for the staff to continue to work as normal.

MGM Auto has a team including mechanics, apprentices and an auto electrican.

James & Bridgette Smith - Owners

James started working at MGM as an apprentice in 2005, becoming a qualified mechanic in 2008.
In 2014 James & his wife Bridgette brought MGM. Since taking over MGM they have taken on the Ironman 4x4 franchise as well as becoming a member of Automotive Solutions.
When they aren't at MGM they can be found looking after their daughter, milking cows and tinkering around with their collection of classic cars.

Simon Quertier - Workshop Manager

Simon started at MGM in 2016 as a mechanic and has recently become the Workshop Manager.
Simon has a wealth of mechanical knowledge having worked in different workshops in Canada & Australia.
When Simon isn't in the workshop & isn't on call he can be found socialising with friends & family or taking his classic car for a run.

Lloyd Shaw - Mechanic

Lloyd started working at MGM over 12 years ago. Lloyd has a wealth of knowledge on classic & modern cars.
When Lloyd isn't in the workshop he can be found tinkering on his own collection of cars.

Joe Kerse - Mechanic

Joe started working at MGM in 2014 as a gateway student before becoming a full time apprentice in 2015.
When Joe isn't in the workshop he can be found modifying & fixing his fleet of vehicles.

Jordan Kelly - Mechanic

Jordan started working at MGM in 2017 doing his pre-trade before becoming a full time apprentice in 2018.
In this time Jordan was awarded the kick start scholarship.
When Jordan isn't in the workshop he can be found working on his friends cars or playing rugby for the Waikaka B team.
